Ambassador Takeuchi Attended the 34th Swearing-in and Prize Giving Ceremony of the School of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Zambia

On 20th May, 2025, Ambassador Takeuchi attended the 34th Swearing-in and Prize giving Ceremony at the School of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Zambia (UNZA) as the guest of honour.
 
Since the construction of its campus building in 1983 through Japan’s grant aid, the School of Veterinary Medicine has continued to strengthen its collaborative ties with Japan. Through educational and research supports provided by JICA projects and collaboration with Hokkaido University, the school plays a central role in veterinary education in the Southern African region today.
 
Reflecting on the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Zambia last year, Ambassador Takeuchi expressed his appreciation for being part of this meaningful occasion at a time when the bilateral friendship  continues to deepen. He highlighted the importance of veterinary medicine not only for the development of livestock and food security, but also for its vital role in preventing zoonotic and transboundary diseases, thereby contributing to Zambia’s economic growth. He extended his congratulations to the graduates and expressed his hope for their future contributions to the society.
 
The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests including Dr. Charles Maseka, Director of Veterinary Services of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Professor. Boniface Namangala, Deputy Vice Chancellor of UNZA and Professor. Victor Zulu, Acting Dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine. They expressed their gratitude for Japan’s longstanding support and celebrated the achievements of the graduating class.
 
During the ceremony, Ambassador Takeuchi presented certificates of commendation to outstanding graduates.
