Visit to Food Storage Facilities for Emergency Food Assistance under the Japan’s Emergency Grant Aid for the Drought-Affected Areas in Zambia

On 18th November 2024, Mr. OMINATO Satoshi, Deputy Chief of Mission, visited food storage facilities where emergency food funded by the Japan's Emergency Grant Aid (US$ 2 million) through the World Food Programme (WFP) is stored for emergency relief for the drought-affected areas in Zambia.
 
During the visit, Mr. Kurt Burja, Deputy Country Director of WFP Zambia Country Office, explained the distribution plan which targets approximately 8,400 households in the Southern Province and is set to be completed by January 2025. The warehouse was filled with bags of maize transported from Tanzania and beans produced in Zambia.
 
Mr. Ominato expressed gratitude to WFP for their cooperation and requested their continued efforts to ensure that food reaches the people in need.
