Japanese Ambassador’s Karate Tournament 2024

On 26th and 27th October 2024, the Embassy of Japan in Zambia and the Kyokushin Kenbukaikan International co-hosted the Japanese Ambassador’s Karate Tournament at the National Sports Development Centre (NASDEC) in Lusaka.
The opening ceremony was addressed by Mr. Chama Fumba, Permanent Secretary, Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts and H.E. Mr. TAKEUCHI Kazuyuki, Ambassador of Japan. Ambassador Takeuchi spoke of the importance of international exchange through karate as a means of fostering personal growth and leadership, with the expectation that young karate practitioners will become future leaders.
This year, hundreds of Karate-kas, including women and children, participated in the tournament not only from six provinces of Zambia but also from neighboring Southern African countries such as Namibia and Zimbabwe. They competed in various categories such as Kata and Kumite, to demonstrate the achievements of their practices.
