2024 Japan Film Festival opens

On 3rd February 2024, the Japan Film Festival organised by the Japan Foundation opened for the first time in five years at the Ster-Kinekor Manda Hill Mall in Lusaka.
 
At the premiere screening, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia, Mr. TAKEUCHI Kazuyuki, welcomed the audience in his opening speech and expressed the hope that the films would deepen the understanding of Japan and its culture among Zambians. Honourable Rodney Sikumba, Minister of Tourism, who was the Guest of Honour, expressed the hope that Japanese films would be shot in Zambia benefitting from Zambia’s beautiful scenery.

During the Japan Film Festival, six Japanese films will be screened at two venues according to the following schedule. For more information, please see this flyer.

 3 Feb (Sat) 17:30 – “I Never Shot Anyone”
10 Feb (Sat) 15:00 – “My Sweet Grappa Remedies”
17 Feb (Sat) 15:00 – “Sumikkogurashi: Good to be in the corner”

At the Multipurpose Hall of the Embassy of Japan
 9 Feb (Fri) 14:00 – “One Night”
16 Feb (Fri) 14:00 – “The Voices in the Wind”
24 Feb (Sat) 15:00 – “Okko’s Inn”

We hope that Japanese films will deepen mutual understanding and further strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries.
