2022/12/5
On 29 November 2022, Ambassador MIZUUCHI Ryuta and his wife, Dr. MIZUUCHI Akemi, hosted their farewell reception at their Residence. Ambassador Mizuuchi is scheduled to leave Lusaka in early December, upon completion of his tour of duty in Zambia.

In his farewell address, the Ambassador revisited the past three years and two months’ stay in Zambia, mentioning the events related to Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and others that he hosted under difficult circumstances of COVID-19 pandemic with virtually almost no diplomatic activities possible as a result. He also recalled the democratic and peaceful change of the Government in Zambia through the presidential and general elections 2021 that reflected the will of the Zambians. He further commended the efforts made by the Zambian Government that led finally to the agreement with the IMF for the financial support measures. Ambassador Mizuuchi also emphasised that one of the biggest fruits he reaped was the discovery of young Zambian talents who will surely contribute to the future of the country. To conclude, he expressed his gratitude for all the support and cooperation he received during his tenure, to further strengthen Japan-Zambia relations.

Honourable Gary Nkombo, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, on his part, thanked Ambassador Mizuuchi for the contributions he made. Ambassador Waleed Hasan, the Palestinian Ambassador to Zambia, in his capacity as Dean of the diplomatic corps in Zambia, handed commemorative gifts to Ambassador Mizuuchi.

We had the pleasure to welcome around 120 guests from various sectors, including the Government of Zambia, diplomatic community, business, education and sports sectors, Japanese companies and ODA implementing agencies. The guests enjoyed the gathering, with Japanese cuisine and eight different sakes from Japan.
