Conferment Ceremony of Decoration (2020 Spring Conferment of Decorations: Dr. Joseph Mulenga)

On 15th September, H.E. Mr. MIZUUCHI Ryuta, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia, hosted a Conferment Ceremony of Decoration for Dr. Joseph Mulenga, Chairman, Zambia JICA Friendship Association (ZAJIFA), at his residence.
The Conferment Ceremony was attended by his colleagues from ZAJIFA and JICA as well as his family members.
Dr. Mulenga received the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays for his contributions to promoting friendly relations between Japan and Zambia through his long-standing leadership as President of ZAJIFA, an alumni association of Zambians who participated in JICA’s training programmes in Japan. Mr. Mulenga attended a JICA training course in 1995 and has held the ZAJIFA presidency continuously since 1998 up to now, organising exchange events with the Japanese community, visits to JICA projects and playing a central role in building bridges between Zambians who have trained in Japan through the publication of an annual newsletter summarizing ZAJIFA activities.
Dr. Mulenga said, “It is my honor and privilege to stand here to receive the award of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays. When I was first elected as the President, I decided to start serving the interest of my country through ZAJIFA. I make sure that I visit all the projects being undertaken by JICA so I am aware of all the initiative about Japan’s projects. I would like to thank the Government of Japan for accepting and awarding me with this decoration.”
