Emergency Assistance to the Republic of Zambia in Response to the Flood Disaster

On 23rd February 2022, H.E Mr. MIZUUCHI Ryuta, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of the Republic of Zambia handed over emergency relief goods (blankets, portable jerry cans, water purifiers, plastic sheets and tents) to Dr. Gabriel Pollen, National Coordinator of the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit, representing Her Honour Madame Mutale Nalumango, Vice President of the Republic of Zambia, in response to the damages of the flood disaster caused by recent heavy rainfalls and the Tropical Storm Ana. These supplies will be delivered to the hardest-hit districts in the Southern Province of Zambia.

On 8th February 2022, the Government of Japan decided, upon the request of the Government of the Republic of Zambia, to provide emergency assistance through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to Zambia to support victims of the flood disaster, in light of the friendly relations between Japan and Zambia and from the humanitarian perspective.
 
The Embassy of Japan hopes that these emergency supplies from Japan will ease the plight of the flood victims and contribute to supporting the lives of the people in need.
