Conferment Ceremony of Decoration (2021 Spring Conferment of Decorations)

On 3rd December, H.E. Mr. MIZUUCHI Ryuta, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia hosted a Conferment Ceremony of Decoration for Mrs. Hatsuko Takara-Kalabula at his residence.
The Conferment Ceremony was attended by her longtime friends of Zambia including His Honour Mr. Enoch Kavindele, former Vice President of the Republic of Zambia, Hon. Prof. Nkandu Luo, former Minister of Fisheries and Livestock and Prof. Robert Serpell, Vice Chancellor of Eden University, to name a few.
Mrs. Hatsuko Takara-Kalabula is a Japanese national who first came to Zambia in 1987, and has been contributing towards building friendship and goodwill between Japan and Zambia. Mrs. Takara-Kalabula contributed to improving the level of education through volunteering at the Ndola Lions School for the Visually Impaired and providing the school with financial support and school supplies. She also contributed to promoting exchanges between the two countries through various activities including promoting folk and culture exchanges and translating “The Tongue of the Dumb” into Japanese.
Furthermore, Mrs. Takara-Kalabula, through the Zambia-Japan Association, which she established in 1988, introduced scholarship to the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Zambia, promoted youth sports exchanges, organized events to introduce Japanese culture and supported towards opening of Japanese Language course, to name a few of her long-standing and continuous contributions to promote friendship and goodwill between Japan and Zambia.
