Handover of medical goods from Asahi City to Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital

2021/12/7

On 7 December, the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Zambia handed over 5,000 medical masks and 2,000 medical protective suits to the Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital. These medical goods were donated by Asahi City, Chiba Prefecture in Japan which was a “host town” for Zambian Olympic Team in this year.

The Zambian Olympic delegation was due to hold a pre-camp in Asahi City at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, but this has been cancelled due to concerns over COVID-19.

In view of the seriousness of the situation in Zambia and the availability of medical supplies, Asahi City has sent the medical goods to medical personnel in Zambia to assist them in dealing with the new coronavirus infection.
