11th Japanese Ambassador’s Karate Tournament

 On 6th and 7th November, Zambia Kyokushin-Karate Organization, supported by the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Zambia, hosted the 11th Japanese Ambassador’s Karate Tournament while adhering to the COVID-19 preventive measures at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC).
 
 This year, a total of 304 Karate-kas participanted in the tournament not only from Zambia but also from Malawi, Namibia and Zimbabwe, competing in Kata, Semi-Contact and Full-Contact categories to demonstrate the results of their practices.
 
 On 7th November, Dr. John Phiri, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts, Mr. Kennedy K. Mukuka, President, Martial Arts Federation and Mr. OMINATO Satoshi, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Zambia addressed the gathering before the finals. The winners were awarded with medals.
 
 The embassy of Japan hopes that the annual Japanese Ambassador’s Karate Tournament will help further development of Karate in Zambia, and promote cultural exchanges between Japan and Zambia, contributing to mutual understanding between the two nations.
