Contract Signing Ceremony with Association for Aid and Relief Japan (AAR Japan) for the Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects by the Government of Japan (Supporting Livelihood Activities through Agriculture in Meheba Local Integration Area)

          On 1st December, Mr. MIZUUCHI Ryuta, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia, and Ms. TAKAHASHI Kazune, Programme Coordinator of Association for Aid and Relief, Japan (AAR Japan) Meheba Office, signed a grant contract amounting to 311,972 US Dollars for the implementation of the programme titled “Supporting Livelihood Activities through Agriculture in Meheba Local Integration Area” within the framework of the Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects.

          Through this project, AAR Japan will encourage 11 self-help groups consisting of 360 households by providing necessary agricultural inputs including agricultural tools and high-demand seeds, expanding their joint transportation systems and sales channels, and strengthening their expertise on cultivation and financial management. Activities by AAR Japan are expected to revitalize the targeted farmers’ agricultural activities and increase their cash income, which will lead to design their self-sustainable livelihood basis.
