Contract Signing Ceremony with Association of Aid and Relief Japan (AAR Japan) for the Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects by the Government of Japan (Livelihood Support Project in Meheba Local Integration Area)

          On 17th September, Mr. Hidenobu Sobashima, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia, and Ms. Kazune Takahashi, Programme Coordinator of Association of Aid and Relief, Japan (AAR Japan) Meheba Office, signed a grant contract amounting to up to 386,637 Untied States Dollars for the implementation of a project of the Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects, “Livelihood Support Project in Meheba Local Integration Area”.

 

          Through this project, AAR Japan will provide such necessary agricultural inputs as agricultural tools, seeds, seedlings, and fertilizers to self-help groups consisting of about 1,700 people, support their joint transportation to markets, promote their information sharing of living activities and networking, involving also the relevant government officials, and support capacity-building of their institution management and accounting. Activities by AAR Japan are expected to revitalize agricultural activities and strengthen livelihood activities of self-help groups in Meheba Local Integration Area.
