Visit of MISIA, TICAD7 Honorary Ambassador to Zambia

With TICAD7 in late August approaching, a delegation of MISIA, TICAD7 Honorary Ambassador and director of mudef (singer), and Ms.Miyoko Asada, director of mudef (actress), visited Zambia from July 29th to August 4th.
 
During the visit, the delegation visited the School of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Zambia, where Hokkaido University has been cooperating on Epidemiological Research on Zoonotic Virus Infections as a JICA project, as well as an orphanage, an infant reception facility and a compound (residential area of low income people), among others, in Lusaka. They also visited the refugee settlement area in Meheba and primary and secondary schools there, near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Victoria Falls on the border with Zimbabwe and the protected elephants in the area, and interacted with the local residents.
 
In the early part of the visit on July 30th, Ambassador Sobashima invited the delegation to the Ambassador's residence and thanked them for visiting Zambia immediately before TICAD7. Honorary Ambassador MISIA, on her part, presented him with a picture book of a fairy tale written by herself "Heart no Leona".
 
Then Honorary Ambassador MISIA explained her experiences in Africa and her activities to support children in Africa, and Ambassador Sobashima and the delegation discussed various issues of Zambia and Africa.
