Spirulina and Nutrition Event with the National Handball Team

On Thursday, 29th November 2018, a Nutrition and Spirulina Event was hosted by Alliance Forum Foundation at Prince Takamado Primary School in Lusaka with a view to the improvement of the understanding of the issues of nutrition of children by lectures, Spirulina intakes, and interaction with the National Hand Ball Team Members.
Mr. Hidenobu Sobashima, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia attended the event, together with Ms. Bessie Chelemu, Director of Sport, Ministry of Youth, Sport and Child Development who was the Guest of Honour, Mr. Kohsuke Hara, Programme Manager, Alliance Forum Foundation, Mr. Victor Banda, President, Handball Association of Zambia, among other participants.


Alliance Forum Foundation (AFF), a Japanese non-governmental organization, has been working on nutrition improvement projects in Zambia using African-origin nutrition-rich Spirulina, aiming at eradication of malnutrition, in cooperation with Program Against Malnutrition (PAM) and University of Zambia (UNZA), among others.
Ambassador Sobashima remarked in his speech that, as TICAD VI attached importance to the health sector, the activities of AFF which has been implementing the Spirulina Projects since 2012 in various places in Zambia, with a view to establishing a success story of nutrition through Spirulina in Zambia, and spreading the Spirulina nutrition over the COMESA countries and beyond, worth appreciation and hoped that these projects will contribute to achieving universal health coverage in Zambia.
Spirulina buns were distributed to the many children there who ate them, and they observed the exhibition matches of handball by the National Team, loudly cheering at each time the goal was attained.
