The handover ceremony of the Old Kabweza Health Post in Kafue District took place on January 11th, 2017. The construction of the Health Post was implemented as a part of “the Maternal and Child Health Project in Chisankane Area, Kafue District”. This project commenced with a Grant Contract with Association for Aid and Relief, Japan (AAR Japan) in February 2016, amounting to 517,936 USD as a project of the Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO projects.
At the ceremony, congratulatory remarks were made by Mr. Hidenobu Sobashima, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia, Mr. Josphat Lombe, Acting Permanent Secretary of Lusaka Province, Mr. Joseph Kamana, Acting Kafue District Commissioner, Dr. Kakungu Simpungwe, Lusaka Provincial Medical Officer, and Ms. Michiko Arihara, Acting Country Representative of AAR Japan, with the participants of about 150 people, mostly residents there.
During Phase of this Project, AAR Japan constructed the Old Kabweza Health Post. Here, the community obtains access to comprehensive medical services, especially the Maternal Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) care. It is expected that the project by AAR Japan will further contribute to improve the MNCH situation in the Chisankane Area through the development of the basic health services system.
Through the “Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects” scheme, the Government of Japan provides grant assistance to Japanese NGOs which implement economic and social development projects in developing countries.
