On 5th March 2026, Ambassador MIKAMI Akiteru paid a courtesy call on Honourable Mtolo Phiri, Minister of Agriculture.
Ambassador Mikami and the Minister exchanged views on the efforts of both countries to ensure food security and enhance agricultural productivity in light of the impacts of climate change. They also confirmed that cooperation between the two countries in the agricultural sector will be further strengthened, building on Japan’s technical cooperation, including the promotion of rice cultivation and support for small-scale irrigation.
