Awarding Ceremony of the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation to Dr. Sande Ngalande

On 6th February, the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Zambia hosted the Awarding Ceremony of the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation to Dr. Sande Ngalande at the Ambassador’s Residence. The event was graced by Dr. Kelvin Mambwe, Permanent Secretary, Technical Services of Ministry of Education, as the Guest of Honour.
 
The Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendations are prestigious awards recognizing individuals and groups who have made outstanding contributions to promoting friendship between Japan and other countries. This year, commendations were given to 173 individuals and 58 organizations worldwide. Dr. Ngalande received this honour in recognition of his outstanding dedication to promoting Japanese language and culture in Zambia, thereby strengthening bilateral ties.
 
His Excellency Mr. MIKAMI Akiteru, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia, in his congratulatory remarks, applauded Dr. Ngalande’s perseverance and vision, noting the vital role he played in laying the foundation for Japanese language education in Zambia. The Ambassador highlighted the long history of educational exchange between Japan and Zambia through the MEXT scholarship program, which has supported over 120 Zambian students since 1982, and expressed hope that Dr. Ngalande’s pioneering work would inspire continued growth in bilateral educational and cultural relations.
