Cooperation for Japanese Pop Culture Event “LsCon 2024”

On 23 September 2024, the Embassy of Japan participated in the convention for fans of Japanese pop culture in Zambia, "Lusaka Comic Convention 2024", known as “LsCon”, with a booth for Japanese cultural experience.
 
The Embassy of Japan cooperates with Nerd Otaku, an association of fans of Japanese pop culture, such as manga, anime and games, formed spontaneously from a group of friends. Nerd Otaku has become a powerful motor to promote J-pop culture in Zambia, and was awarded the Japanese Ambassador’s Commendation in 2022.
 
Hundreds of visitors interacted with Embassy staff, Japanese and Zambian volunteers at our booth, and enjoyed experiencing Japan's authentic cultural heritage such as origami, calligraphy and trying on kimonos.
