Courtesy Call on Vice President Nalumango

On 30 January 2024, Ambassador TAKEUCHI Kazuyuki paid a courtesy visit to Her Honour Mrs. Mutale W. K. Nalumango, Vice President of Zambia.
The Vice President commended the longstanding friendship between Zambia and Japan, which marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year. She noted that the two countries have worked together on shared values such as peace, democracy, respect for human rights and the rule of law. She also expressed her deep appreciation for Japan’s assistance led by JICA in various fields, such as refugee, agriculture, education, and infrastructure development illustrated by the Kazungula Bridge. She also expressed her hope for further cooperation on new issues such as climate change, disaster prevention, emergency response and food security.
Ambassador Takeuchi also expressed his hope that Japan, as a friend of Zambia, would continue to extend assistance where needed, citing the support provided by Japan and Japanese NGOs against the recent cholera epidemic, and that both countries would work together to make the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations a great occasion for the two countries. He also expressed his hope that Japan and Zambia would not only cooperate bilaterally but also work together for the benefit of the international community on issues such as climate change and humanitarian support.
