In August 2023, 155 books on Japan were donated to the Copperbelt University Library by the READ JAPAN PROJECT, a book donation project funded by the Nippon Foundation.

The READ JAPAN PROJECT was initiated by the Nippon Foundation in 2008 to promote the understanding of Japan through the donation of Japan-related books in English to universities and libraries around the world. It has donated books to more than 1,200 institutions. Now the project is administered by the Tokyo Foundation for Policy Research with financial support from the Nippon Foundation. In 2021, UNZA received books through this project.

Upon receiving the donated books, Ms. Agnes Chitambo, Chief Librarian of the Copperbelt University Library, expressed her gratitude to The Nippon Foundation and the Tokyo Foundation for Policy Research and her hope that the donated books will be used for research activities at the university.

We wishe that a large number of people, especially the youth, will take an interest in Japan and Japanese culture, or deepen and enrich their knowledge about Japan through the donated books.
