Courtesy Call on Hon. Rodney Sikumba, Minister of Tourism

On 9 August 2023, Ambassador TAKEUCHI Kazuyuki paid a courtesy call on Hon. Rodney Sikumba, Minister of Tourism.
Ambassador said that he would like to resume promoting tourism relations between the two countries which have been stagnant for the past few years due to the COVID-19. He also said that next year will mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Zambia, and that Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan will be held in the following year, which is a great opportunity to promote tourism between the two countries. In relation to this, Minister said that it is necessary to make efforts not only to promote Zambia in Japan but also to pitch it at Japanese residents in Zambia who would communicate the attractiveness of Zambia to the Japanese market, which would eventually result in increasing the visibility of Zambia and attracting tourists from Japan.
