Courtesy Call on ZESCO

On 17th April 2023, H.E. Mr. TAKEUCHI Kazuyuki, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia, paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Vicson Nkube, Board Chairman of ZESCO (Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation Limited), and discussed issues such as stable power supply in Zambia.
Mr. Nkube stated that hydroelectric power accounts for a very high percentage of the total power generation capacity of Zambia, hence it is necessary to increase the solar and wind power generations in the future. He also expressed hope to develop power distribution network, which is still either weak or not available in rural areas of the country.
Ambassador Takeuchi replied that he would like to consider what support Japan can provide to Zambia in this field, and confirmed to continue the discussion.
