On 8 April 2023, the Embassy of Japan in Zambia participated in AniMeet, an event for anime fans organised by Nerd Otaku at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre.
AniMeet featured cosplayers dressed as anime characters, an anime quiz competition, karaoke of anime songs, and an exhibition of games based on anime works, attracting a large number of anime fans.
The Japanese Embassy interacted with visitors through an exhibition on Japanese culture, a yukata dressing session, origami and calligraphy workshops, and takoyaki tasting.
We hope that Nerd Otaku's activities will continue to make Japanese pop culture more accessible to Zambians.
