Conferment Ceremony of Decoration (2021 Autumn Conferment of Decorations)

      On 28th June, H.E. Mr. MIZUUCHI Ryuta, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia, hosted a Conferment Ceremony of Decoration for H.E. Mrs. Ndiyoi Muliwana Mutiti, Commissioner of Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ), at his residence.
 
      The Conferment Ceremony was attended by her current and former colleagues from the ECZ and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation as well as her family members.
 
      Ambassador Mutiti, who served as Ambassador of the Republic of Zambia to Japan from 2015 and 2020, received the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star for her contributions to promoting relations between Japan and Zambia. In particular, she supported the efforts by the Japanese Government towards women empowerment through sharing her views at various events, including World Assembly for Women (WAW!), an annual conference orgainised by the Japanese Government which focuses on women empowerment. She also played a vital role in promoting trade investment towards Zambia and Africa as the Chairperson of the Trade and Investment Committee of the African Diplomatic Corps in Tokyo, and thus contributing to the success of TICAD (Tokyo International Conference on African Development). Furthermore, Ambassador Mutiti contributed towards promoting academic, sports and community exchanges.
 
       In response to Ambassador Mizuuchi’s introduction of her achievements, Ambassador Mutiti said that thanks to support from the Government of Japan, it was not so difficult to do a good job as ambassador in Japan and that she will continue to contribute towards strengthening relations between Zambia and Japan by sharing her experiences of Japan to people of Zambia.
