EMBASSY OF JAPAN HOLDS SEND- OFF CEREMONY FOR ZAMBIAN PARALYMPIC CONTINGENT

On 30th July 2021, the Embassy of Japan held a send-off ceremony for Zambian Paralympic Contingent at the Ambassador Residence in collaboration with the National Paralympic Committee of Zambia.
The Paralympian representing Zambia at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, Ms. Monica Munga, was welcomed and congratulated by Mr. MIZUUCHI Ryuta, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia. He shared a story of Dr. NAKAMURA Yutaka, known as "Japan’s Father of Paralympics" in his remarks, and the contribution of Japan to the development of sports for the physically challenged in Zambia.
During the ceremony, President of Hitachi Construction Machinery Zambia, Mr. HATTORI Hideki presented Ms. Munga with items to support her participation in the Tokyo Paralympics.
We also introduced the messages to Ms. Munga from Mayors of Host Towns of Olympics and Paralympics. Mayor of Asahi City in Chiba Prefecture, Mr. AKECHI Tadanao feels certain that Ms. Munga will inspire the city of Asahi by overcoming her disability and pushing herself to her limits. Mayor of Marumori Town, Mr. HOSHINA Kunio has sent a heartwarming message with local language “Tiyeni (Go) Monica!”
The Embassy of Japan in Zambia wishes Ms. Munga all the best and great success in the Paralympic Games.
