Signing Ceremony for the Project for the Extension of the School Building at Bread of Life School in Ndola, Copperbelt Province under Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects

2019/3/19

On 6th March 2019, Mr. Hidenobu Sobashima, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia, and Mr. John Sakala, Manager of Bread of Life School, signed a grant contract amounting to up to 62,208 US Dollars for implementing a project of the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects “the Extension of the School Building at Bread of Life School in Ndola, Copperbelt Province”.

Bread of Life School which was established in 2009 currently accepts 265 pupils from pre-school to grade 7. However, due to the insufficient number of classrooms, pupils had to receive education in a very small room or storage, sitting with 3 or 4 classmates on a couch for 2 pupils. In addition, the number of toilets is not sufficient, either.

Under the circumstances, Bread of Life School prepared a plan to construct 3 new classrooms, a teachers’ room and a new toilet facility and to procure necessary school furniture and requested the Government of Japan to provide the funds to implement the plan.

When completed, 265 pupils will be able to receive education in an appropriate environment and more than 50 children may be accepted additionally by the school.
