Signing Ceremony for the Project for the Construction of Kabwata Development Youth Centre in Lusaka under Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects

　

     On 2^nd February 2018, Mr. Hidenobu Sobashima, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia, and Ms. Grace Mtonga, Executive Director of Civic Forum on Housing and Habitat in Zambia (Civic Forum), signed a grant contract amounting to up to 86,030 US Dollars, or 821,940 Zambian Kwacha, for the implementation of a project of the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects, “the Construction of Kabwata Development Youth Centre in Lusaka”.

     Kabwata area in Lusaka City has a huge population of young people who are in need of additional education and training after their primary school education. Under the circumstances, Civic Forum prepared a plan for constructing Kabwata Development Youth Centre to train 100 girls and 100 boys, and requested the Government of Japan to fund its construction.

     When completed, the centre will possess various classrooms and a computer laboratory, to be engaged with the skills development of 200 boys and girls at such courses as artisans, hospitality and catering, plumbing, tailoring, electrical, environmental management, and entrepreneurship.
