2017/5/29

On 16th May 2017, Mr. Hidenobu Sobashima Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia, and Hon. Mr. Felix C. Mutati, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Zambia, signed and exchanged the Notes for Grant Aid for the Project for Upgrading Lusaka Health Centres to District Hospitals Phase 2 in the Ministry of Finance in Lusaka.
The objective of this grant aid, amounting to 3 billion 908 million Japanese Yen (approximately 400 million Kwacha), is to upgrade the health centres at Chawama, Chipata and Kanyama in Lusaka District to the First Level Hospitals, by constructing the buildings including an outpatient department and providing the necessary medical equipment at each of the three health centres.
When completed, the three hospitals along with Chilenje Hospital and Matero Hospital, which had already been completed in the Phase 1 Project as the First Level Hospitals and were officially opened in April 2017, will contribute to the improvement of the health services in Lusaka District, and many people will be able to access high quality medical services near their homes.
