Signing Ceremony for Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Project (Recycled-Ambulance)
The Government of Japan has provided a grant amounting to aproximately 18,000 United States dollars to each Mumbwa and Chongwe District Health Office through the Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Project scheme. The Grant Contracts between the Government of Japan and the two Health Offices were signed on 29th March in Lusaka by Ambassador of Japan to Zambia Mr. Akio Egawa and the representatives of the offices.
The purpose of the grant is to support the project for improvement of referral transfer system by importing ambulances donated by Fire Department of Saitama-City Fire Headequarter and the Integrated Fire Department of Western Saitama Municipalities.
It is hoped that the provision of well-equiped ambulances will help respond more quickly to emergencies such as women facing complications during labour and injured people in road traffic accidents and be able to do referrals of critically ill patients.
