On 5th February 2016, the handover ceremony of The Project for Construction of a Youth Skills Training Centre in Lusaka City was held in Kabulonga, Lusaka city. This project was implemented through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project with the grant amounting to 122,573 US Dollars. Dignitaries present at this event included Hon. Emmerine Kabanshi, Minister of Community Development, H.E Mr. Kiyoshi Koinuma, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia, Ms. Eunike Phiri, President, Rotary Club of Lusaka Central, and Dr. Mwelwa, Vice Chancellor, Creso Ministries.
At the ceremony, a newly constructed 1x5 classroom block equipped with furniture, sewing machines and carpentry tools was unveiled, and the official opening of the training centre was celebrated. Unemployment rate of the youth in Zambia is still high, and especially for the youths living in the compounds in urban areas, employment opportunities are limited. It is expected that this new facility will provide under-privileged youth in Lusaka with quality skills training and contribute to increase job opportunities and raise the income level of the youths.
