On April 18th 2015, the 22nd Annual General Meeting of the Zambia JICA Fellowship Association (ZAJIFA) took place in Lusaka. ZAJIFA comprises members who have taken JICA training courses in Japan.
General meetings are held once a year and on this particular occasion, invitees included people from different Zambian government departments, the Embassy of Japan, JICA and those who have been on JICA training courses in Japan.
About 60 fellows attended the event. Honourable Nicholas Banda, Deputy Minister of Local Government and Housing and Mr.Hideki Yamaji, Chargé d’Affaires Ad Interim of Japan to the Republic of Zambia, were also present at the event. Both Guests of Honour congratulated the fellows and encouraged them all in their future careers.
During the meeting, JICA course fellows gave presentations about their experiences during their training as well as life in Japan. A fellow who attended the training course for Rescue Techniques made presentations where he gave briefings on the technical training which was held at the training center in Kobe as well as the site visit for Tohoku disaster area which was hit by the massive Tsunami in 2011. The other three fellows made presentations about their respective training courses, Health sector, Agriculture sector, and Education sector. Active discussions were held in the meeting about the usefulness of lessons learnt from the training course.
It is expected at the Annual General Meeting will continue to contribute as an avenue to the further strengthening of relations between Japan and Zambia.
