Handover Ceremony of Newly constructed community school in Mahopo Community, Lusaka

On 11th December 2015, on behalf of the Government of Japan, H.E. Mr. Kiyoshi KOINUMA, the Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia, handed over new community school buildings to Civic Forum on Housing and Habitat in Zambia. This project was funded under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects Programme of the Government of Japan, and the grant for this project amounted to 90,051 United States Dollars.
Besides the members of Civic Forum, Hon. Given Lubinda, Minister of Agriculture, the representative of Ministry of General Education, and the people from Mahopo community also attended this ceremony to celebrate the completion of the new school facilities.
This newly constructed community school will provide opportunities of quality education in a conducive environment for about 300 children in Mahopo community from next year. It is hoped that the completion of the school facilities will boost people’s morale for further development of the community, and it will attain better living environment working as one with the government and other support entities. This latest project is also expected to contribute to the further strengthening of the cordial relations that exist between Zambia and Japan.
