Reception for the Birthday of His Majesty, the Emperor of Japan

 

 

 

On 3rd December 2015, the Embassy of Japan hosted a Reception to celebrate the Birthday of His Majesty, the Emperor of Japan, at the Ambassador’s residence in Lusaka. Distinguished Guests included Hon. Given Lubinda, M.P., Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Sydney Mushanga, M.P., Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Hon. Alfreda Kansembe, M.P., Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Security, and Hon. Dr. Mutaba Mwali, M.P., Deputy Minister, Ministry of Works and Supply.

 

H. E. Mr. Kiyoshi Koinuma, Ambassador of Japan to Zambia delivered his speech, expressing that the Embassy of Japan not only continues to contribute to the economic and social development of Zambia, but also promotes exchanges in the academic, cultural and sport areas. The Ambassador also mentioned that the 6th Tokyo International Conference on African Development, TICAD VI, will be held in Africa for the first time, urging active participation from the Republic of Zambia in the conference. The Guest of Honour, Hon. Sydney Mushanga, M.P., Deputy Minister of Higher Education, expressed gratitude for Japan's development assistance to the Republic of Zambia, further showing the confidence that both countries will strengthen their existing relationship between the two nations.

 

At the Reception, JICA and Japanese leading companies set up their exhibits, which included displays of Japanese cars, providing a platform leading to the strengthening of economic relations between the Republic of Zambia and Japan. Also, the Embassy staff introduced Japanese food and Japanese rice wine called Sake, attracting participants’ interest.

 

About 230 guests from the Government of Zambia, Zambian companies, universities, mass media, sports organizations, Japanese companies, ODA related organizations, diplomatic missions and international organizations interacted with each other at the Reception and exchanged opinions to strengthen the ties of friendship.
