On the same day, the Embassy of Japan also held an awarding ceremony of the Foreign Minister's Commendations for FY 2015 at the reception for the tournament. The ceremony took place at the Ambassador’s residence. The Foreign Minister's Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in international fields, to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries and areas. This year, Fr. Jude, Vice President of Zambia Judo Association has received this award in recognition of his service in promoting Japanese traditional martial arts, Judo in Zambia and his contribution to promoting friendly relations between Japan and Zambia. He was presented with an award certificate by H.E. Mr. Kiyoshi Koinuma. In response, Fr. Jude expressed his gratitude for the commendation and Japanese government supports extended to Zambia Judo, adding that he would like to continue to work towards Judo development and further strengthening of cordial relations between both countries. This is the first time the Foreign Minister’s Commendation has been won in Zambia.
