Government of Japan Provides 118,661United States Dollars for The Project for Improvement of X-Ray Equipment of Monze Mission Hospital Under Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects

On 4th November 2015, H.E. Mr. Kiyoshi Koinuma, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia presented on behalf of the Government of Japan, a Grant amounting to 118,661 United States Dollars, or approximately 1.4 million Kwacha to facilitate the implementation of The Project for Improvement of X-Ray Equipment of Monze Mission Hospital.

Monze Mission Hospital was founded in 1964, and currently it provides medical service as a first and second level hospital. The X-ray department which plays a key role in diagnosis at the hospital provides examinations by X-ray machines, and the number of X-ray cases has been increased with the increasing number of the patients. However, it is difficult to manage data with the old analogue equipment. In addition, because of the breakdown of the processing machine, the processing of films is done manually, which results in degradation of accuracy in diagnosis and prolonged waiting time for patients, which hinders timely treatment.

Through this project, new digital X-ray machines produced by Japanese Company, FUJI FUILM will be purchased, and it is expected to improve accuracy of diagnosis and treatment by adding quality to examination equipment. Also, FUJI FUILM South Africa Ltd., the distributer of its mother company’s products, will give additional contributions, such as the installation of equipment by sending their own technician and the provision of application training for the staff of the hospital.

It is hoped that by taking advantage of this project, the technological capability of Japanese medical equipment industry would be used as one of the tools to support people in Zambia, and that more of Japanese companies would contribute to the development of Zambia.
