Handover Ceremony of a CD4 Counting Machine for the HIV/AIDS Project by the Association for Aid and Relief, Japan (AAR Japan)

The handover ceremony of a CD4 counting machine* took place at Nangongwe Clinic in Kafue District on 21st October 2015. In January 2015, the Government of Japan provided 602,517 USD to the Association for Aid and Relief, Japan (AAR Japan) in order to implement the HIV/AIDS Project. Utilizing part of the funding, AAR Japan handed over the CD4 counting machine to Kafue District Medical Office.

Dignitaries present at the event included H. E. Mr. Kiyoshi KOINUMA, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia, Mr. Gibson Sinkala, Chairperson of Kafue District Council, and Mr. Ryota Hirama, Country Representative of AAR Japan.

The CD4 counting machine will allow the clinic to obtain CD4 examination results within 24 hours. It is therefore expected that those who live with HIV/AIDS in the community receive more effective services at the ART Centre.

Through the “Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects” scheme, the Government of Japan provides grant assistance to Japanese NGOs which implement economic and social development projects in developing countries.
