JAPAN DAY 2015

The Embassy of Japan in Zambia hosted Cultural Exhibit Event, called “JAPAN DAY”, at Arcades Shopping Mall on 15th September, 2015.

Origami Paper Folding counter, Calligraphy counter and Kimono Modeling counter were set up as Japanese Cultural Exhibits, drawing a lot of attention from many Zambians and other people from overseas.

This year, a variety of Japanese Foods, such as fried noodles, grilled chicken on a skewer “Yakitori”, pork miso soup and Sushi, were introduced at the event under the sponsorship of Toyota Zambia Ltd, Toyota Tsusho Zambia, Hitachi Construction Machinery Zambia. Co. Ltd., Shimizu Corporation and Sushi-Mai. The Embassy also undertook promotion of Japanese Sake which is the fruit of Japanese nature, knowledge and culture.

The event was attended by many guests, who gained first-hand experience of Japanese culture by actually trying out different activities at each exhibition booth. The public also showed keen interest in Japanese Foods and Japanese Sake, which were not familiar in Zambia. While there are not many occasions available for experiencing Japanese Culture in Zambia, this annual festival is expected to enhance mutual understanding by expanding the relationship between Japan and Zambia.
