The Opening Ceremony of the Workshop on Developing the Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC) project
The Workshop on Developing the Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC) took place from 16th to 18th July 2014 in Lusaka, Zambia.
Officials who attended the opening ceremony held on the morning of the 16th included Mr. Hideaki Machida, First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan to Zambia, Mr Lloyd Thole, Assistant Registrar for Industrial Property, Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA), and Mr. Andrew Czajkowski, Head of Innovation and Technology Support Unit of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).
In the workshop, practitioners from institutions such as the Patent Office, Research institutions and Universities in Zambia learned effective use of technology in patent and in science & technology journal databases. They engaged in active exchange of opinions. It is hoped that the fruitful deliberations in this workshop will provide an opportunity for promoting utilization of technology databases in Zambia and would contribute to the protection and utilization of intellectual property.
