JICA Media Breakfast
(Site Visit)
The “JICA Media Breakfast” hosted by JICA Zambia office took place in Lusaka on February 28th. This event was mainly targeted at media companies in Zambia, purposed to spread recognition of Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA), especially activities of JICA within Zambia. The media, which play an important role in pass dissemination of information to the civilians of Zambia were invited to the event.
At the beginning of the event, Kiyoshi Koinuma, Ambassador of Japan to Zambia and Yoshihide Teranishi, Chief Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), gave a speech to the participants. Following to the speech, presentations about JICA’s role and activities took place by JICA officials, experts and Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV). A site tour was also held to view the Project for the Improvement of the Living Environment in the Southern Area of Lusaka and the Project for Upgrading Lusaka Health Centres to District Hospitals.
There were many participants from the media and made several comments. It was clear that the media in Zambia has great interest in Japan’s ODA and JICA projects.
It is hope that, through this event, Japan’s aid to Zambia will be recognized even further by the Zambian citizens.
