by the Association for Aid and Relief, Japan (AAR Japan)
The handover ceremony of the Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) Centres for the HIV/AIDS Project took place at the Mwembeshi Clinics in Chilanga District on 11th December 2014. The Government of Japan provided 761,979 USD for the HIV/AIDS Project which was implemented by the Association for Aid and Relief, Japan (AAR Japan)
Dignitaries present at the event included H. E. Mr. Kiyoshi KOINUMA, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia, Mr. Wamunyima Muwana, Permanent Secretary of Lusaka Province, and Mr. Ryota Hirama, Acting Country Representative of AAR Japan.
The ART Centres located within the Mwembeshi Clinics will provide the local community with ART counselling and treatment with due respect for visitors’ privacy. In addition, by implementing an advanced software system and equipment, the Clinics are expected to provide more effective services as a result of improved client data management. ART Centres would allow people in the community to gain more knowledge about ART in efforts to support those who live with HIV/AIDS.
Through the “Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects” scheme, the Government of Japan provides grant assistance to Japanese NGOs which implement economic and social development projects in developing countries.
