2014 Japanese Ambassador’s National Judo Tournament

　

 

 

On 29 November, the Embassy of Japan in Zambia hosted the Japanese Ambassador’s National Judo Tournament in association with the Zambia Judo Association at the Olympic Youth Development Center (OYDC). The event brought together some 200 Judokas from 6 clubs around the country, demonstrating their highly skilled abilities.

 

Board member of National Sport Council, Mrs. Matilda Mwaba and H.E. Mr. Kiyoshi Koinuma, Ambassador of Japan to Zambia delivered speeches at the event. In addition, they awarded torophies to excelling clubs and judokas. The awards are significant for participants because winners are considered for selection to the national team.

 

Judo has gained more popularity in Zambia, and it is hoped that Judo in Zambia will be further developed, paving the way for Zambian judokas who would bring excitement to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
