The Signing of Grant Aid with National Olympic Committee of Zambia
for The Project for Improvement of Sports Facilities
of National Olympic Committee of Zambia
On 21 January 2014, H.E. Mr. Kiyoshi Koinuma, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia, signed on behalf of the Government of Japan, the Grant Aid Contract, amounting to about one hundred thousand US dollars, for the Project for Improvement of Sports Facilities of National Olympic Committee of Zambia, with Mrs. Mirriam Moyo, the President of National Olympic Committee of Zambia.
In 2012, the Embassy of Japan granted about one hundred thousand dollars to construct an athletic field, a soccer court, a tennis court and a netball court, naming the facility “YAMATO-Fields”. In this Project, the grant is used for the construction of a hockey court, a volleyball court and a basketball court.
It is hoped that the Project will contribute to identifying sporting talent among the youth and fostering international sport leaders, as well as ensuring sound upbringing of children by providing ordinary citizens, especially underprivileged youths with a safe sport facility.
