THE HANDOVER CEREMONY FOR THE PROJECT FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF
WATER SUPPLY CONDITION IN NDOLA CITY

The handover ceremony for the Project for the improvement of water supply condition in Ndola city took place in Ndola, Copperbelt Province on 17 September 2013. The Government of Japan provided 21.2 million USD (approximately 115 billion ZMK) for the Project.

Dignitaries present at the event included His Excellency Mr. Akio Egawa, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia, Hon. Mwenya Musenge, M.P., Minister of Copperbelt Province and His Worship Davis Chiwala, Mayor of Ndola City.

This project involves the rehabilitation of Kafubu water treatment plant and approximately 12.9 kilometres of water pipeline network, as well as construction of 6 public extra kiosks covering Ndola city. With a focus on the southern region of the city, the project will benefit about 320 thousand people, accounting for more than half of Ndola’s population.

It is hoped that this project will contribute towards a stable supply of safe water to citizens of Ndola City as well as boost development of the mining industry of the City and ultimately the economic growth of Zambia.
