Annual Assembly of Japan Scholars 2013

On 13 February 2013 the Embassy of Japan hosted the Annual Assembly of Japan scholars which is an alumni association of former scholarship students to Japan.

Two to three Zambian students and researchers are sent to Japanese universities every year under a scholarship programme sponsored by the Government of Japan. After completing studies in Japan, they play important roles in the development of Zambia in various areas.

In a greeting message, H. E. Mr. Akio Egawa, the Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia briefed the assembly on recent developments in Japan-Zambia relations and emphasised an important role to be played by members of the Japan Scholars as a cornerstone of relations between the two countries.

It is hoped that through the vitalization of the Japan Scholars as well as closer networks among the members, relationship between Japan and Zambia will increasingly be broadened and strengthened.
