2013 World Water Day Friendship Tournament


  

 

On 21 March, the Embassy of Japan cohosted the 2013 World Water Day Friendship Tournament at Yamato Playing Field which was constructed by the Government of Japan in 2012 with, various stakeholders in the water sector. Japan, Germany, Australia and Zambia made up 12 football teams which participated in the event.

At this event Counselor of the Embassy of Japan, Mr. Hideki Yamaji made a speech in which he emphasized the importance of increasing access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation facilities in the world. He also explained Japan's engagement in the water sector in Zambia citing that Japan has made nealy 2000 deep bore halls all over the country.

It is expected that the awareness on the key issues relating safe water and hygiene will be increased among the people of Zambia through this event.
