Japan provides 122,573 USD to Rotary Club of Lusaka Central

On 7 March 2013 His Excellency Mr. Akio Egawa, the Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia, presented on behalf of the Government of Japan, a Grant amounting to 122,573 United States Dollars, or approximately 650 thousand Zambian Kwacha (Rebased) to Rotary Club of Lusaka Central to facilitate the implementation of The Project for Construction of Youth Skills Training Center in Kabulonga, Lusaka City.
The Grant has been provided under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGHSP). GGHSP was introduced in Zambia in 1990 and its primary objective is to support various development projects which enhance human security at the grassroots level. More than 150 projects have been implemented in Zambia since its inception.
Rotary Club of Lusaka Central has been implementing various community empowerment project such as community schools and vocational training centers. They have been contributing positively to the enhancement of the welfare of vulnerable people.
It is in appreciation of the efforts being made by Rotary Club of Lusaka Centeral that the Government of Japan decided to support The Project for Construction of Youth Skills Training Center in Kabulong, Lusaka City.
This project will enhance the skills training among underprivilleged youths around the area.
It is also hoped that the project will contribute further to the strengthening of the cordial relations that exist between the people of Japan and the people of Zambia.
