Handing over of a rehabilitated Agricultural machinery maintenance and repair centre, and a new building to Chipembi Farm College through Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects Programme

On 12th October 2012, the handing over ceremony of a rehabilitated agricultural machinery maintenance and repair centre and a new building for Chipembi Farm College was held at the construction site in Chipembi. This project was implemented by the Chipembi Farm College, with the support of the Government of Japan through Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects Programme.  Mr. Atsushi Kuwabara, Chargé d’Affaires ad intérim of Japan to the Republic of Zambia attended this ceremony on behalf of the Government of Japan to commemorate the completion of the facility and it was officially opened.

The grant for this project, amounted to 101, 509 United States dollars, or approximately 500 million Zambian Kwacha. The Chipembi Farm College has been making commendable efforts in providing technical training in agriculture to students and local small-scale farmers for a long time, despite the challenges in classroom space and the condition of the agricultural machinery maintenance and repair centre.

It is hope that the facilities will be well utilised and maintained, so that they will have a positive long-lasting impact on people in the region, and will symbolize the long-lasting friendship between the people of Japan and Zambia.
