A Hand-over Ceremony of the Project for Construction of
Bus Terminal Facilities in Chirundu
On 24 August 2012, a hand-over ceremony of the Project for Construction of Bus Terminal Facilities in Chirundu was held in Chirundu with the participation of the Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia, His Excellency Mr. Akio EGAWA on behalf of the Government of Japan, Mr. Bernard Hamoya, Acting Deputy Council Secretary, Siavonga District Council and Mr. Maxwell Siamalimba, District Commisioner, Chirundu District. The facilites include a bus terminal and an ablution block built near Chirundu Market. The Government of Japan disbursed 103,682 USD for the implementation of this project under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects Programme.
By the completion of this project, it is expected that traffic order and public health of the boader town Chidunde will be improved and economic activities in the town will be boosted.
