THE PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS TRAINING PROGRAMME
FOR ZAMBIA PPP Unit
--
A PPP (Public-Private Partnerships) Training Programme was held in Livingstone from 19th to 23rd March 2012. The Programme was organized by the PPP Unit of the Ministry of Finance and National Planning, in collaboration with JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) and the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development). Mr. Atsushi Kuwabara, Minister Counsillor of the Embassy of Japan in Zambia, as well as JICA representatives, participated in part of the programme.
This programme was facilitated through NEPAD-OECD Africa Investment Initiative. The Initiative undertook a review of Zambia’s investment policy framework in 2011, and the review identified PPPs as a priority for Zambia’s development. To implement the reforms identified in the review, the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the OECD and the Zambian government organized the PPP Training Programme.
The Programme involved officials from the PPP Unit, infrastructure ministries, municipalities and other bodies involved in PPP project implementation. The Programme lasted for one week and provided approximately 30 participants with the skills they need to undertake infrastructure projects, from inception to termination.
