The Memorial Tree Planting Ceremony

at Prince Takamado Basic School


 

 

On 29th March 2012, the occasion of Memorial Tree Planting Ceremony on behalf of Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado, held at Prince Takamado Basic School in Bauleni Compound, Lusaka City.

Prince Takamado Basic School in Bauleni Compound, Lusaka is one of the eight basic schools in the Zambian capital which were built under the Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA) in 1999. The school was named to commemorate the official visit to Zambia by Prince and Princess Takamado in December 1999.  Currently, approximately 2700 students are accessing high quality education at the school under the guidance of 48 teachers. It is expected that the school will continue to contribute significantly to the development of human capital for the enhancement of Zambia’s social and economic development.

This tree planting was made possible by Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado, with the support of His Excellency Mr. Akio Egawa, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia and Mr. Paul Njovbu, the Principal, Prince Takamado Basic School, who attended the ceremony.

It is expected that this tree planting will strengthen the cordial relations that exist between the people of Japan and the people of Zambia.
